Tom tom gps map updating
Bought a go730 (a week ago) which came with 2009 Australian Map V815used map guarantee to check for new map and it says I have the latest map for my device so there is apparently no new map.Checked tomtom web site for available maps and it recommends, after asking me to connect the go730 via tomtom home, that I purchase the latest Australian map V830 for my go730 for 9AU. Rang up Tom Tom and was advised that map guarantee is only valid for 1 month (30 days) from date of purchase. Spoke to DSE Manager who was surprised as he believed that the upgrade deal was current for 6 months. Yep - friend of mine bought a 730 on my recommendation, and because of the map update guarrantee. Garmin have made a number of changes to their map update procedures in the last year.
For those with newer devices these changes have made it much simpler, for others it can still be a painful process with numerous calls to Garmin technical support.
Dynamic road changes, such as changed speed limits, new street names, blocked roads and new traffic directions can be updated directly on the device.
Drivers then have the choice to share those road changes with Tom Tom and the broader Map Share community.
